Provide First Aid Course
This is the standard ‘First Aid Course’ as recommended by Work Safe Australia and provides successful participants with the Nationally Accredited unit of competency HLTAID003 ‘Provide First Aid’ (Including CPR). This course was previously know as ‘Apply First Aid’ or Senior Level II First Aid.
Over 2 days from 8.30-17.30pm the following topics will be covered: DRSABCD Action Plan, CPR, Choking, Unconscious Patient, First Aid Principles and Guidelines, Wounds, Fractures, Dislocations, Sprains and Strains, Burns, Asthma, Anaphylaxis, Shock.
Successful completion of the course will provide participants with the unit of competency HLTAID003 ‘Provide First Aid’.
This unit of competency can be used as part credit towards the nationally certified course Certificate II in Emergency Medical Service Response.
PROVIDE FIRST AID COURSE STRUCTURE
Participants will need to complete approximately 9 hours of pre-course reading, which will be sent once enrolled in the course.
A multiple choice exam will take place on day 1 to check the level of knowledge achieved from the pre-course reading/study. The course will then be predominantly practically based, with first aid topics reviewed using effective modern audio visual presentations, followed by relevant role plays/scenario’s enabling skills to be practiced and demonstrated. Assessment of the relevant Units of Competency will be achieved through ongoing observation of the demonstration of skills and through the submission of notes taken during the role plays and scenarios.
