Wilderness First Aid Course
This Wilderness First Aid Course is ideal course for those that work in the Outdoors. Aligned to the National Skill Set SISSS00108_R2 ‘Wilderness First Aid’ and successful completion awards participants with Nationally Accredited Units of Competency.

Over 5 consecutive days from 8.30-17.30pm the following topics will be covered: DRSABCD Action Plan, CPR, Unconscious Patient, First Aid Principles and Guidelines, Shock, Planning & Preparation for a Remote Location, Wounds, Fractures, Dislocations, Sprains and Strains, Spine Management, Coordinating and Emergency, WH&S, Asthma, Anaphylaxis, Hypothermia, Hyperthermia, Bites and Stings, Abdominal Injuries, Head Injuries, Burns, Respiratory Emergencies, Chest Pain, Diabetes, Multiple Causalities.
WILDERNESS FIRST AID COURSE STRUCTURE
Participants will need to complete approximately 15-20 hours of pre-course reading/study that will be sent to them once enrolled in the course. A multiple choice exam will take place on day 1 to check the level of knowledge achieved from the pre-course reading/study. The course will then be predominantly practically based, with first aid topics reviewed using effective modern audio visual presentations, followed by relevant role plays/scenario’s enabling skills to be practiced and demonstrated. Assessment of the relevant Units of Competency will be achieved through ongoing observation of the demonstration of skills and through the submission of notes taken during the role plays and scenarios.
